The area features historic ranch ruins, frequent springs, and seasonal streams that create lush, oasis-like canyons. Climb out of the green belts to enjoy spectacular views of surrounding mountain ranges and valleys. Birdwatching is especially popular, with a signed bird-spotting area near Big Den Creek southwest of Desatoya Peak. Trails wind through rugged terrain with varying elevation, surface, and difficulty. Points of interest include the historic Cold Springs Pony Express Station, the Wonder Mind mine, and the Eagleville mining site. Cold Springs Station offers a restaurant, bar, motel, convenience store, and campground with RV hookups and water. Unimproved and dispersed campsites are also available nearby.
