Crescent Peak Off-Road Area sits on the Nevada-California border west of Searchlight along Route 164. This well-known desert riding spot delivers a great mix of narrow trails, 4-wheel drive roads, and sandy washes, making it popular with ATV and dirt bike riders of all experience levels.
The area is especially scenic thanks to its many striking Joshua trees and its close proximity to the Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness and the Mojave National Preserve. Riders also have easy access to surrounding BLM-managed lands for extended exploration.
On the east side of the riding area, be sure to stop by the historic Walking Box Ranch — a BLM-managed landmark and popular tourist attraction.
Other Information
Motor vehicles are permitted on designated routes only. Note that only street-legal vehicles are allowed inside the Mojave National Preserve on the California side of the border.
The Wee Thump Joshua Tree Wilderness, located north of Highway 169, is closed to all motorized and mechanized use. Only hikers and equestrians are permitted inside the wilderness boundary. Horses are allowed with certified weed-free hay only. Please respect all wilderness boundaries and stay on designated trails for your activity type.
This desert off-road area combines fun, varied terrain with beautiful Joshua tree scenery and nearby historic sites — making it a favorite destination for Southern Nevada riders.
