Frisco Peak & Historic Charcoal Kilns Adventure (Intermediate, 37 miles, All Widths) Staging: Lambing Sheds near old Frisco town site (13 miles west of Milford on Hwy 21 — approx. 1 hour from Beaver) History buffs, this one’s for you! This ride takes you straight into the heart of the legendary Frisco Mining District, where you’ll explore the impressive historic charcoal kilns built back in the 1870s. You’ll get an interesting history lesson on the area and learn why charcoal production was so critical for the booming mines of that era. We’ll visit multiple kiln sites, giving you a real feel for this fascinating chapter of Utah’s mining past. The highlight of the day is the breathtaking climb to the top of Frisco Peak at 9,700 feet. From the summit you’re rewarded with an absolutely amazing panoramic overlook — one of the best views in the region. The route follows old mining roads through the San Francisco Mountains and spends a good portion on a 60” ATV trail. Expect a long, rocky climb up Frisco Peak on an unmaintained road that adds real adventure and a sense of accomplishment when you reach the top. If you love historic sites, big mountain views, and a solid mix of mining history with scenic riding, this shorter but very rewarding ride is a must-do.
