Hells Revenge Escalator to Hell - Rated 8
This advanced variation follows the standard Hell’s Revenge route—extensive slickrock with steep climbs/descents, off-camber sections, and significant exposure—while adding two major obstacles: Hell’s Gate and the Escalator. These raise the trail rating several notches above the regular trip. Review the standard Hell’s Revenge description first. A winch is strongly recommended.
Scenery
Sweeping 360-degree vistas from the La Sal Mountains and Arches National Park to the Colorado River canyon, Negro Bill Canyon, and Moab Valley. The vast barren slickrock expanse is a striking feature in itself.
Surface
Primarily slickrock, with rock ledges, broken rock, and minor blow sand.
Trail Details
Designed for experienced drivers who have mastered all optional challenges on standard Hell’s Revenge and seek greater difficulty.
Hell’s Gate: A steep, narrowing chute climb that steepens near the top. Precise line choice is critical; spotter assistance is advised. Missing the line risks severe rollover down the chute.
Escalator: A multi-tiered climb up a narrow V-shaped slickrock notch, encountered before Tip Over Challenge. The line zigzags to avoid the bottom, with tires pressing against walls or one front tire lifting.
After these, the route continues through Tip Over Challenge, Rubble Trouble, and remaining standard obstacles.
