JOHN TAYLOR LOOP - Vernal Utah
John Taylor Loop Trail is a high elevation trail with some spots above 9,500 feet. This beautiful trail has several water crossings that can very depending on run off. This trip has many scenic overviews and will consist of high elevation forest two track roads with a mid-point assent up a tight rough boulder covered mountain trail with steep climbs, multiple stops along the way for sight seeing.
The trail departs from the Western Park Arena Vernal to forest service line then follows two track forest roads along the rim of Ashley Gorge for many overlooking opportunities, then travels on to a short stop at Oaks Park Reservoir (primitive restrooms there), then travels to Anderson creek crossing it several times stopping for lunch at the abandon coper smelter and passing several historic cabins from the late 1800ās to early 1900ās. The trail then traverses up a boulder covered pass (snow drifts likely) to the top of Dyer peak 10,000ā and back down to FSR 018 to Taylor mountain road and back to Vernal.
**Depending on snow conditions this trail maybe rerouted**
ā**One short steep section difficulty 6-7**
ā** 20 miles of paved road **
**Vegetation may rub on vehicle**

Dense trees, high elevated mountain & gorge overlooks. Old deserted cabin and smelter.
