Moab Rim - Rated 7

Moab Rim - Rated 7

This route ascends the prominent cliff rim visible southwest of Moab. The only 4WD access starts just downriver from town. The initial mile features the highest concentration of obstacles on any club trail, with a rapid succession of rock ledges and tight turns where many vehicles contact rocks. The upper section is sand and rock; the trail forms a short loop before descending the same demanding mile. Scenery The first mile climbs tilted rock layers with progressively higher overlooks of the Colorado River gorge in one of its most scenic stretches. From the rim: panoramic views of the La Sal Mountains, Moab and Spanish Valleys, parts of Arches National Park, and distant Book Cliffs. Behind the rim lie rock domes, fins, and downstream Colorado River gorge rims. Surface Lower section: mostly bedrock fractured into ledges and steps. Upper area: slickrock, blow sand, and sand mixed with broken rock. Trail Details The opening mile includes notable obstacles: Devil’s Crack — requires precise turn onto a ledge to avoid dropping a wheel into the crack. Z Turn — two off-camber turns over irregular rocks and ledges. On top, an optional slickrock dome climb reaches approximately 85% grade. Length: 14 total, 9 off highway Min Tire Size: 35+ inches Winch: No, Front Locker: Yes, Rear Locker: Yes
