Location Esmeralda County Length 197 miles (Network) Town Silver Peak Surface Dirt, Sand Pets Permitted Fees No Wilderness Study Areas Pinyon Joshua Instant Study Area, Silver Peak Range Wilderness Study Area Description The Silver Peak Dunes are a special BLM-designated recreation management area that gives riders the chance to enjoy desert dune riding in Esmeralda County. Located just a few miles north of Goldfield near the town of Silver Peak, this area features open sand dunes perfect for OHV fun. OHV riding is strictly limited to non-vegetated sand areas only. No competitive recreational events are permitted. This helps protect the fragile desert environment while still providing an exciting riding experience. While you're in the area, take time to visit the historic Alkali Flat Hot Springs, located about 7 miles off Highway 95 on Silver Peak Road. Other Information Motor vehicles are permitted on designated sand areas only. Please stay off all vegetated terrain to preserve the sensitive desert ecosystem. This remote location offers a unique dune-riding adventure in southern Nevada. Always come prepared with plenty of water, fuel, recovery equipment, and sun protection. A great stop for riders looking for something different — open sand, desert scenery, and nearby hot springs.
