Description
The Ward Mountain Adventure Loop is a scenic ride that lets you explore the highlights of Ward Mountain, starting from multiple convenient trailheads in Ely, Nevada. The route climbs steadily through sagebrush and pinyon-juniper forest to reach the Ward Mountain Campground, then continues south along the beautiful Upper Terrace road.
From there it crosses a saddle near Hamel’s Peak and descends into the historic Ward townsite. Along the Upper Terrace you’ll enjoy peaceful stretches through aspen groves and riparian corridors, with only occasional technical challenges. After visiting the old townsite, head north along Cave Valley Road and ride through recently treated juniper areas improved for wildlife habitat restoration.
This loop offers a great mix of mountain scenery, varied terrain, and historic interest in one accessible ride.
